GLYCOLIC ACID PEELS

Glycolic Acid is one of the alpha hydroxy acids (AHA or fruit acids). It can be used in higher concentrations as a superficial peel which rapidly removes the dead outermost layer of the skin, along with oil, dirt and makeup left on the skin, to unblock and reveal a softer, smoother and clearer skin underneath. This is an effective treatment for acne, ageing and pigmentation (when used in conjunction with hydroquinone and glycolic acid homecare regime).

Patients usually have 6-8 treatments performed at weekly intervals. There is no downtime, though occasionally slight transient redness may occur. The treatment takes 2 minutes.

PCA peels are mid range peels that are often combined with hydroquinone and/or resorcinol. These are supplied in layers to the skin leading to mild flaking and redness over the next couple of days as the outer layers of the skin are removed. These peels are especially useful for treating irregular pigmentation and blemishes on the skin. Patients usually require 3-4 treatments at fortnightly intervals.
