Breast Augmentation Surgery Before and After Photos
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BREAST AUGMENTATION?
Breast augmentation can be performed with silicone or saline. Some doctors have a preference to silicone because of the firm feel of the silicone whilst other doctors prefer saline because it avoids the possible risk of silicone leakage.
HOW DOES ONE GET THE IMPLANT UNDER THE SKIN OF THE BREAST?
There are a number of different approaches for breast implant. Dr. Lanzer uses the direct inframammary fold. This is the crease below the breast and a direct incision in the area does not usually leave much of a scar because of the crease and it is under the breast. Other doctors have tried using approaches through the armpit or through the actual umbilicus. Sometimes these can have issues since it is not as easy to get the breast implant into place.
AT WHAT PLANE OF THE CHEST IS THE IMPLANT PLACED?
There are a number of different approaches. Sometimes it depends on the actual breast type. Mostly, Dr. Lanzer places the implant under the muscle which is called the jewel plane. This gives it a more natural appearance. There is some theory that there would be less risk of capsule contraction.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN RISKS INVOLVED WITH BREAST IMPLANTS?
Breast implants usually set high and can set some time to come down. They may rupture or may cause what is called a capsular contraction with natural body healing around the capsule becomes too strong and they become hard and firm.
Sometimes implants do not sit in the right position and further treatments are required.
HOW DOES ONE DECIDE ON THE SIZE OF THE IMPLANT?
This is based on discussions with Dr. Lanzer who will ascertain what is the most likely size that is required. Some patients do put rice in their bra and try to ascertain the size based on that volume enlargement.
A breast augmentation can increase your cup size, but it is often difficult to determine how your body is going to look after such an augmentation. It is also difficult to estimate how a fuller breast looks, so having a look at our before and after photographs could give you better insight into the results that could be obtained through a breast augmentation. However, it is still important to realise that everyone’s results are unique, so the before and after photographs should only be used as a guideline, and not a result that you will obtain.
To get a better idea about the results you could obtain from a breast augmentation for your specific situation, it is advised to speak to your cosmetic surgeon. The cosmetic surgeon will explain what will be done during a breast augmentation and how it will affect the aesthetics of the breasts. During this time, it is also important to convey any questions regarding this, since the surgeon can answer them best during a consultation, opposed to over the phone. Of course, if you still have questions or concerns after your initial appointment and want to speak to Dr Lanzer about your treatment again, you can book another appointment at the Dr Lanzer Clinic.
