Breast Implant Cost
Breast implant is one of the most common procedures performed in the world under cosmetic surgery. There are different types of breast implants and different approaches, and therefore the costs will vary depending on the approach and method. Generally speaking, an implant does cost around $8,000 plus theatre fees. The actual implant such as silicone and saline has a cost which is usually included in the fee of approximately $1,200. Theatre fees would be an extra charge. Some clinics overseas offer very cheap implant costs. However, one needs to always factor in the cost of travel and accommodations and further time off of work. Unfortunately, when traveling overseas one does not really have a holiday as they are having a procedure as well.
When considering the costs of an implant, it is very important to balance the costs with the experience of the surgeon and the method being offered. Cosmetic surgery is certainly not like shopping for a normal good or product as there is such variation in approaches and experience and method. Dr. Lanzer has been taking calls and questions on cosmetic surgery for over 25 years. He wrote a weekly column for the New Idea. He has indicated that the most common question that people ask is, “What is the cost?” Most doctors do not like to advertise their costs upfront as it can be misleading to the public to understand the exact costs that are involved. Patients may get the wrong idea of what procedure is best for them.
