Dr. Lanzer has been operating and consulting from Sydney for the last 25 years. He has a special interest in liposculpture of the body, high definition liposculpture to produce a 4-6 pack, man boob reduction, breast reduction in women, mega liposuction, Vaser liposculpture, erbium laser resurfacing, laser blepharoplasty, mini face lift, suture lift, acne scar therapy, tummy tuck, and breast augmentation-breast implants.
Dr. Lanzer has a strong following in Sydney and interestingly, a number of ethnic groups follow Dr. Lanzer closely in Sydney for high definition liposculpture and man boob reduction. Many men want to have the athletic 6-pack look. They’ve seen it on stars and models. They like the appearance. Unfortunately often it is difficult to obtain the 6-pack and it involves many hours each week exercising and becoming very low in body fat and sometimes even dehydrated. Patients tell Dr. Lanzer they can only hold onto the 6-pack look for a short period. They often do it for contests. With the liposculpture, no implants are actually placed in the body. Rather, fat is selectively removed from the stomach, chests, and sides. By understanding where muscles insert and originate, Dr. Lanzer is able to sculpture fat from between the muscles. This gives the illusion of a more prominent muscular appearance. Interestingly, all different shapes and sizes can be improved in this way as can all different ages. The vast majority of patients are males. However, women do like the V-groove on the side of the stomach. Some women do actually want a 6-pack look as well. Dr. Lanzer says that this type of liposculpture is the most common procedure he performs in Sydney patients.
Another procedure that has become very common this year has been mini face lift. Because of this, Dr. Lanzer has built a new day centre in Pitt Street Sydney in the CBD where he will carry out mini face lifts under local anesthetic. He uses a method of tumescent liposuction not too different from the liposculpture tumescent fluid that he has used for the last 22 years. The fluid numbs and softens and prepares the skin, particularly on the neck, jowls and outer cheeks. After the excessive fat is sucked out, the skin is elevated and sutures are placed on the muscle that pulls the cheek skin up. The end result is very similar to how someone would look when pushing their skin towards their ear. Dr. Lanzer has been performing skin suture lifts for many years. He feels that the mini lift is going to be stronger and more dramatic. It should be more long lasting since skin is actually removed. Of course, one can never predict how long a face lift lasts since it does depend on facial movement, genetics, and how things relax back.
People often ask me in Sydney, “What is the difference between lifting the skin and laser resurfacing?” Essentially, a lifting procedure is used when the skin is drooping and sagging. The appearance would be one of how one would see when pushing the skin backwards towards the ear. Laser resurfacing is more focused on skin texture. The goal is to treat the finer wrinkles. It is aimed at giving the skin a smoother, softer, cleaner, and tighter appearance. The most ideal patient, particularly in Sydney, where there is nice sun, is to do laser resurfacing on fair skinned patients. The face is full of hair follicles. The follicles that are deep down in the dermis are the ones that re-grow and create the new skin surface. Specialized dressings are applied on the skin so that most of the healing occurs between 5-7 days. Dr. Lanzer will go deeper around the mouth where there are deeper lines, particularly if people have vertical smoker’s lines and around the eyes. Sometimes, he recommends combining the treatment with fillers or muscle relaxants in order to prevent the lines coming back so quickly. Some patients purse their upper lip and that causes lines. Muscle relaxants can help that as well. For olive skin patients, lasers and devices that are called fractionated work better. These produce small localized focal points of vaporization rather than diffuse resurfacing of the whole face. Dr. Lanzer has a number of devices that he uses in Sydney to help fractionated laser. These include Dermapen and radiofrequency and Viva.
Another common procedure that Dr. Lanzer performs on Sydney patients is laser blepharoplasty. He initially traveled to Sydney in 1992 when the CO2 UltraPulse Laser was being demonstrated. He bought that machine at that time for $180,000. He has used CO2 lasers for eyelid rejuvenation since that time. The laser is used in a cutting mode in the upper lid. In the lower lid there is actually no cutting of the skin from the outside, but rather an incision with the laser on the inside which means that there are no stitches or scars when performing the fat bag removal. At the same time, he may perform laser resurfacing of the wrinkles on the lower lid.
There are many surgical treatments that can be improved or benefitted by non-surgical treatments. Non-surgical treatments that Dr. Lanzer offers in Pitt Street Sydney include:
Non-surgical fat reduction: this is the VelaShape and cryolipolysis. The Vela works by radiofrequency to heat the fat. The cryolipolysis works through freezing the fat. Interestingly, both ends of the spectrum can help damage fat cells and reduce fat shape. These devices may also be helpful for cellulite.
Non-surgical cellulite: Cellulite is a very difficult condition to treat. It is the puckering of the skin with fibrous bands. Acoustic wave therapy has been shown to be effective in some cases of cellulite. This is now available in the Sydney clinic.
Non-surgical facial rejuvenation: There are a number of different approaches to facial rejuvenation. In Pitt Street, the Dlumière Esthétique, offers the following options which include glycolic peels, TCA peels, medical microdermabrasion, Dermapen, and laser photo rejuvenation.
Weight loss and shaping devices: Dr. Lanzer also offers the VibraSauna. VibraSauna involves vibrating of the skin under intense heat. It is a device that is quite relaxing as well and may be helpful for people after surgery.
Post-Surgical Treatments: There are a number of treatments that can help people post surgery. These include VelaShape for deep bruising and swelling, as well as message.
Cosmetic Facial Injections: One of the most common cosmetic procedures in the world today is injections of wrinkles both to relax them and to fill them out. There are 2 approaches. Once is to relax the muscle, particularly around the eyes and forehead. The other is to elevate the skin and soften the wrinkles by giving more volume. There are different types of fillers that can be used in localized areas such as the lips or cheeks for full face lifts can be formed with fillers. This is often referred to as the liquid face lift. Dr. Lanzer’s staff is trained in advanced methods of injections. This can all be performed whilst awake as an in-and-out procedure in the Dlumière Esthétique Medi-Spa in Pitt Street Sydney.
