Face Rejuvenation with a Fat Transfer

Face Rejuvenation with a Fat Transfer

Fat Transfer to the Face is used for full facial rejuvenation and/or facial volume restoration. The Adivive fat transfer system has now allowed Dr Lanzer to use fat injections for full-face rejuvenation. The concentrated fat that contains Stromal and Stem cells are injected into the face to improve the skin texture and shaping. With age, the cheeks can become more depressed and this can be improved by adding fillers such as fat via a facial fat transfer. Fat can also be used on areas of the face such as wrinkled cheeks, around the eyes, jawline and on the lips. The fat can be stored for future injections, which may be done under sedation or anaesthesia as a local anaesthetic.

Rejuvenation of the Hands

Rejuvenation of the Hands

With age, the skin on the back of the hands become thin and pigmented. The fat layer seems to disappear. Fillers such as your own fat or hyaluronic acid via the Airgent can give back some of the missing volume. The pigmentation can also be treated with creams and laser therapy as with the face. Dr Lanzer warns that as with all grafts there is a difference between patients as to the longevity of the fat transferred. The fat may last forever as a more long term result or totally dissipate with no result. Some patients may find a slow reduction and benefit from repeat enhancements.

What Is An Adivive Fat Transfer?

The autologous fat transfer is an aesthetic procedure that takes fat from one donor area of your body and relocates it to another area of your body to restore lost or uneven volume and contours. The fat from an autologous fat grafting procedure is used as an injectable tissue to treat areas such as the face, buttocks and hands.

Fat is usually taken from a person’s thighs, stomach or buttocks and is implanted into the breast or as a dermal filler for the face. To obtain the amount of fat during the fat graft, the cosmetic surgeon will use special cannulas, as used in cosmetic procedures such as liposuction.

In an Australian first, in conjunction with the Palomar AdiviveTM Fat Transfer System and the unique Cellbrush Delivery System™, Dr Lanzer also offers cosmetic fat cell storage so that fat can be removed and used in later anti-aging procedures.

Once the fat is removed, it goes through special fat processing units The adipose tissue is then filtered and concentrated, making it ready for re-injection into the body. With the acquired fat, a cosmetic surgeon can provide an all-in-one treatment providing benefits such as contouring as well as rejuvenation.
Surgical procedures such as the fat graft do require a donor site, this means that the patient must have an area on the body where excess fat can be harvested.

The Fat is prepared through a special centrifugation treatment, so that it is concentrated and purified and thereby rich in Adipose Derived Stromal / Stem Cells. (ADSC)

The patient’s own body fat is harvested through liposuction. The harvested fat is then condensed, filtered, and injected into the chosen location of the body requiring rejuvenation or augmentation.

Dr Lanzer’s clinic is the first in Australia to use the new Adivive machine that has just received TGA approval. We offer a FREE, No-Obligation Cosmetic Surgery initial Consultation and a detailed explanation of the procedure.

Dr Lanzer can email all patients a detailed consent form that provides information related to the surgery. This information is made available to all patients before surgery, allowing enough time for the patient to ask any questions they may have.

    Adivive Device Advantages

Dr Lanzer says the Adivive device has three major advantages:

    Fat rich in stem/stromal cells

    Fat rich in stem/stromal cells

The Adivive centrifuges fat under compact pressure with in-built filtering. Oils and unwanted tissue are separated leaving a more purified fat that is rich in ADSC (Adipose derived Stroma/Stem cells). The treated fat with its high concentration of cells and growth factors may enhance the longevity of the fat transfer.

    Enclosed System

    Enclosed System

The entire process of fat extraction, separation, filtration and injection – is in a totally enclosed system which minimises the chance of contamination and adds an extra safety factor that is vital for breast fat transfer.

    Pressured delivery

    Pressured delivery

The Adivive device allows for an air pressured even injection and filling of fat into the breast which helps produce a natural and even result. The fat is injected via a small tube and there are no stitches.

An increasingly large amount of patients now opt for Adivive fat transfer procedures. The Adivive machine produces condensed high-quality fat from liposuction that can then be injected into areas of your body.

What Else Do I Need To Know About Adivive Fat Transfer?

How long will my procedure take?

Fat transfer procedures with the Adivive system can take as little as an hour for smaller areas in the face and hands, but treatment time depends on the size of the area treated.

How long can the results last for?

Fat may last long term or for a few months. Unfortunately, fat can also disappear immediately leaving no perceivable final result. Repeat follow up injections are always a good approach when considering fat therapy of the face and other areas.

Are there any risks or side effects?

The most common side effects are swelling and/or bruising to the treated area. This may take up to a few weeks recovery time to resolve. Consult with your Dr Lanzer about procedural instructions, expectations, and other potential side effects.

How many treatments will I need?

You may achieve dramatic results after just one treatment but the number of treatments needed is determined by, among other things, the desired outcome and the size of the treatment area.

    Frequently Asked Questions

The length of time that your fat injection will last vary. For some people, it may be very long-lasting. Unfortunately, fat may not take in its new location and the fat may totally disappear immediately or over many months creating volume loss.

Repeat injections may be an option.

All photographs represent one person’s experience, and results may vary for each patient. All photographs are of actual patients of Dr Lanzer. The visible change in these photographs has occurred as a result of the procedure/s undertaken. Best results are obtained when the procedure is combined with a balanced diet and exercise.

Some before and after photos shown are not exact, in that they vary in light, contrast, clothing, background, distance from camera, hairstyle and make-up.

The main advantage is that your own fat cells are being injected. The fat transfer is also a minimally invasive procedure, which means most patients can return to their normal activities relatively quickly with minimal downtime.
