Eyelid Surgery Before & After Photos
MAKE OVER:
The concept of rejuvenating the entire face with smaller less invasive procedures has become popular. The aging wrinkled and blotchy skin can be smoothed and cleaned with a variety of lasers. Portrate laser treatments has a short recovery and is repeated on three occasions. The erbium is the most dramatic laser that removes the sun damaged layers in just one session. The Co2 laser brings back the youthful eyelid appearance and the suture lift pulls back the drooping cheeks. Dr Lanzer says that one of the nicest and long lasting results occur with the liposculpture of the neck and jowl’s. The new methods enhance skin tightening.
Face rejuvenation liposuction:
Dr Lanzer said probably one of the most interesting areas of liposuction was the removal of fat from the neck and jowls. Neck sculpturing can remove the sagging neck without any need to surgically cut or lift the skin. The skin is a very active tissue and it starts to contract and tighten with tumescent liposuction alone. The procedure can be performed alone or be part of the face makeover that includes eyelid rejuvenation, skin suture and laser resurfacing.
Wrinkled and sun damage skin becomes smooth, clean and freshened by lasering it away
Dermatologists who pioneered resurfacing of facial skin showed that once the damaged layers are removed, the body starts an amazing healing process where deep skin cells that have been protected from the sun make a new skin layer in five to seven days. As a result, skin that had the appearance of a 70-year-old can take on the appearance of a 30-year-old. The results are long-lasting.

WHAT IS XANTHELASMA?
Xanthelasma is a term for collection of cholesterol and fat in globules that occur on the face particularly around the eyes. In about 50% of patients it is due to having high cholesterol triglycerides in the blood and this is a marker of those patients. In another 50% of patients there is no obvious cause as the cholesterol levels are normal.
WHY ARE THESE SUCH A COSMETIC NUISANCE?
The problem with these lesions is that they are always in a very prominent place around the eyes and because they are white they stand out. In olive skinned patients they can look much worse as the white contrasts with the brown.
HOW ARE THESE TREATED?
Many surgeons excise and cut the lesions out but that produces an obvious scar and line. In our clinic we have been treating the xanthelasma lesions for over 25 years by smoothing them down. The best way to do this today is with lasers. I currently use the contour erbium laser.
HOW IS THE LASER PERFORMED?
The local anesthetic is placed under the lesion which numbs the area. The contour erbium laser vaporises the cholesterol away and a new skin layer grows. Healing takes place in about 7 days. Initially the skin is always a little pink as a sign of healing. Eventually, this fades as well.
CAN XANTHELASMA RECUR?
Yes, xanthelasma can recur or develop in other places, particularly if the patient has a high cholesterol. In most cases, it is a one-off treatment.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS WITH LASER TREATMENT OF XANTHELASMA?
There is always a risk of poor healing which could leave some redness or thickening which is a form of scarring. In olive skinned patients that area may go brown or white.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PERFORM THE LASER TREATMENT?
The actual laser only takes a couple of minutes and the healing takes place in about 7 days.
DO MEN DEVELOP XANTHELASMA?
Men also develop xanthelasma, but it tends to be much more common in women.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS OF TREATMENT FOR XANTHELASMA?
Patients normally pay approximately $1,000 for the treatment. This would cover all aftercare.
WHERE IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?
Dr. Lanzer performs treatment with laser in Malvern and Glen Waverley in Melbourne and in his Pitt Street clinic in Sydney.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL?
It is always a good idea to bring a referral from a general practitioner as Dr. Lanzer is a Dermatological surgeon and this a medical condition. There will be an item number to allow patients to claim something back from Medicare or your private insurance.
