Before and after photographs of laser blepharoplasty with glasses on.
I AM OFTEN ASKED, SHOULD I HAVE EYELID REJUVENATION IF I WEAR GLASSES?
This photo was set out to show that having laser rejuvenation can still be worthwhile even if one wears glasses. The tired and aging affect that occurs around the eyes can be improved and seen through the glasses.
WILL LASER AFFECT OR IMPROVE MY VISION?
Sometimes patients with heaviness of the upper eyelid lose vision in certain fields particularly when looking up. There may even be some blurriness of vision. Sometimes that actual skin sits on the lashes and pushes it forward which can be quite annoying and sometimes can contribute to headaches and migraines. Removing the excess skin, can in these situations improve the vision and have a significant medical improvement.
CAN I HAVE LASER VISION CORRECTION FOLLOWING LASER BLEPHAROPLASTY?
Yes. One can have laser vision correction both before and after blepharoplasty. I have had a number of patients who have gone on to have their vision improved so that they don’t have to wear glasses so that they can see the effects of the surgery even better.
DOES HAVE CATARACT SURGERY AFFECT HAVING BLEPHAROPLASTY?
No. There is no affect with that surgery, however, it is good to let Dr. Lanzer know so that he can be extra careful with the surgery.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS TO THE EYES WITH LASER BLEPHAROPLASTY?
The eyes are protected the whole time during surgery with a laser shield. This makes sure that the laser does not touch the eye.
Sometimes patients do get an irritation of the eyes and drops or ointment can be of benefit.
WHY DOES FAT ACCUMULATE AROUND THE EYES?
Nobody really knows why fat accumulates around the eyes. It is certainly a genetic tendency and because of the accumulation of tissue, it makes the eye appear tired and small.
DO I NEED TO HAVE A BROW LIFT?
No. Often brow lifts are not required with laser blepharoplasty. One needs to look at their eyebrow and see if it is in the right position or if it is drooping down. A brow lift is a different surgical operation where the cut is up on the forehead rather than on the actual eyelid.
WILL I BE ABLE TO WEAR MAKEUP AFTER LASER BLEPHAROPLASTY?
Yes. Laser blepharoplasty will create a thicker platform for patients to wear makeup and eyeshadow following surgery.
