What You Need To Know About Eyelid Surgery Case Studies
Dr Lanzer regularly releases some case studies of his patients; this ensures prospective patients have some clear examples of the procedure they are interested in. While our case studies are simply indicators of procedures and their results, they can help patients understand what changes can be brought forward by such a procedure.
Below, we have provided an overview with frequently asked questions, so you can have a better idea of how certain procedures work or what you should consider before having a treatment at the Dr Lanzer Clinic. We have more of these information pages available if required, so be sure to check out the other case studies for additional information.
What Should I Consider Before Having Blepharoplasty Surgery?
There are always things to keep in mind when having any procedure. Firstly, it is essential that you have a good understanding of the risks involved and know what is normal to expect and what is abnormal. Firstly, it is normal for some bruising and swelling post procedure. We see our patients the following day to check that it all looks as expected and then a week later, however if a patient has any concern, we will see them more frequently.
Is There a Chance of Infection with Eyelid Surgery?
Infection is a risk with any procedure, and this is minimised through using a course of antibiotics, performing the procedure in theatre in a sterile environment and regular post-operative check-ups.
Of course, there are some things patients can do to keep the risk of infection to a minimum. Patients will be given post-operative guidelines, which they can follow to reduce their risk of complications. It is important to read through these guidelines thoroughly and contact the Dr Lanzer Clinic team if you have any questions.
What Complications Should I Expect from Eyelid Surgery?
There may be a chance that, if the patient has a lot of loose skin on the upper lid and a drooping eyebrow, they may still have some residual wrinkling of the skin and further down the line require a brow or face lift.
There are more serious complications that can be associated with this procedure and they include more long-term blurred vision or blindness. Dr Lanzer has never had either of these complications occur and thus far has never had to do a repeat procedure on any of his patients.
What Is the Benefit of Choosing Dr Lanzer’s Laser Treatment for Eyelid Surgery?
The laser that he uses allows him to be extremely precise and ensures there is no residual bleeding. This reduces post-operative bruising quite remarkably. Patients are able to open their eyes immediately after their surgery without any concern of harming their eyes or impacting on the results.
Initially, the eyes may feel a little odd due to the local anaesthetic. Vision can be blurry temporarily due to the lubricating jelly used on the eye shield. Patients do tend to feel more comfortable wearing sun glasses the next day, but perhaps this is also a nice way to disguise themselves in public.
