Face Makeover Before & After Photos (1)

This patient presented with hooded upper eyelids, which actually touched her upper lash line. She had heavy bags under the lower lids. Her skin tone was uneven due to the natural aging process and some sun damage. Note the deep lines around her mouth.

This is the patient post Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty, Neck Liposuction and Erbium laser resurfacing to the full face. The Blepharoplasty has opened her eyes and given her a natural crease to the upper lid. Her skins texture is now much smoother and the deep creases around the mouth have decreased dramatically.

Other case studies

The world of cosmetic surgery is always evolving, which is quite fortunate for patients looking to benefit from the latest facelift treatments and procedures. The patient in the following case study showed hooded upper eyelids, heavy bags under the lower eyelids, an uneven skin tone and deep lines around the mouth. Read on to discover what facelift treatments were used to correct the problems this patient was facing, and to learn more about each of these procedures and treatments.

Which Treatments/Procedures Were Used in Case Study 1?

To remove the ageing symptoms this patient was presenting, Dr Lanzer executed a post upper and lower blepharoplasty, neck liposuction and a full erbium laser skin resurfacing procedure. The combination of facelift treatments and procedures gave the patient a more alert appearance with a smoother skin texture and decrease of deep lines around the mouth.

What Is a Blepharoplasty and How Is It Performed?

Blepharoplasty is a medical term used to refer to eyelid surgery. It falls under the category of a surgical facelift treatment, considering the treatment requires incisions.
When both upper eyelids and lower eyelids need to be treated, the surgeon usually starts with the upper eyelids. First, the cosmetic surgery makes an incision along the natural crease of the eyelid. Once this incision is made, the cosmetic surgery will be able to remove and redistribute any excess fat, muscle and sagging skin. When the removal has been executed, the surgeon can close the incision.

Most eyelid surgery procedures do not go over one hour. However, the duration of a blepharoplasty may vary according to the size of the treatment area and the complexity of a cosmetic problem.

What Is Neck Liposuction and How Is It Performed?

Neck liposuction is the removal of fat from the neck through an incision. Because of the fact an incision needs to be made to perform the procedure, neck liposuction can be considered as a surgical facelift treatment however because it’s via a tiny key hole entry there is very little signs of surgery.

To execute a neck liposuction, the cosmetic surgery will make one or two incisions. These incisions are usually concealed underneath the chin or behind the ears, depending on the location of the fat that needs to be removed. When the incision is made, the cosmetic surgery inserts a liposuction cannula, which is used to remove the fat and contour the treatment area.

What Is Erbium Laser Resurfacing and How Is It Performed?

Erbium laser resurfacing is a non-surgical facelift treatment, since no incisions have to be made to benefit from rejuvenating results. The procedure itself is executed by erbium laser, which removes tiny layers of skin and reveal underlying smoother skin.

The nature of erbium laser resurfacing affects collagen in the skin. During the procedure, collagen is activated to tighten the skin further, providing an even smoother and younger skin.

Erbium laser resurfacing procedures are executed under local anaesthetic for the majority of patients. Local anaesthetic is considered to have less risks than general anaesthetic, although general anaesthetic may be required in some cases.

Blepharoplasty is especially beneficial for patients suffering from bags under the eyes, since the treatment can reduce the appearance of such skin problems. Eyelid surgery may give the patient a more alert look, contrary to the fatigued look they had before the procedure. Eyelid surgery has the ability to reduce the appearance of wrinkles as well, so it is a popular anti-ageing treatment.

What Are the Benefits of Laser Resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing can be an option for patients who do not want to take advantage of a surgical procedure to reduce their ageing symptoms. The erbium laser can be used on many treatment areas as well, which includes the neck, face, hands and chest.

In addition to its use as a single treatment, laser skin resurfacing can also be used in combination with surgical treatments such as the blepharoplasty and neck liposuction. In these cases, the treatment is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and creases even further.

What Are the Benefits of Neck Liposuction?

Neck liposuction is often one of the only options for patients, because fat underneath the chin can be pretty difficult to get rid of, even with plenty of exercise and a good diet plan. Sometimes, the problem can be genetics, which makes getting rid of excess chin fat even more difficult. Fortunately, neck liposuction can provide a solution where exercise and diet cannot. The most amazing thing to patients is that the skin contracts and tightens usually leaving a tight neck shape.

What Other Rejuvenation Treatments Are Available at the Dr Lanzer Clinic?

The blepharoplasty, neck liposuction and laser skin resurfacing are just a few examples of procedures that are possible at the Dr Lanzer Clinic. Below, patients can find more examples of additional rejuvenating procedures that can be taken advantage of at the Dr Lanzer Clinic.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are non-surgical rejuvenation treatments. The majority of cosmetic surgery facilities in Australia will have their own preference where chemical peels are concerned. However, the medical team at the Dr Lanzer Clinic prefers the Glycolic Acid Peel.

Glycolic Acid Peel is an alpha hydroxy acid, which can be used in higher concentrations that most superficial peels (chemical peels that can be found in your local supermarket or beauty store). Treatment with Glycolic Acid Peel will remove dead skin cells as well as oil, dirt and makeup remaining on the skin. Thanks to treatment with such a chemical peel, patients can obtain a smoother, younger and rejuvenated skin.

Mini Face Lift

Dr Lanzer specialises in facial rejuvenation procedures, so patients coming to the Dr Lanzer Clinic can benefit from additional facelift treatments such as the mini face lift; this is the alternative procedure used by patients who want to avoid the “pulled look” of deeper lifts. That being said, the results obtained from a mini face lift can be more dramatic than another procedure used at the Dr Lanzer Clinic – the suture lift.

During a mini face lift, Dr Lanzer will remove excess skin from the face and neck. He will also tighten any loose facial muscles, which causes a dramatic reduction of facial wrinkles, creases and other irregularities.

Dr Lanzer always explains the risks with every procedure and encouraged second opinions with appropriate specialists.
