Case Study: The Mini Facelift

The mini facelift is a procedure many people are looking to obtain, mainly because of the dramatic changes the treatment can create. To illustrate the dramatic changes that can occur with a mini facelift, we have provided the following case study. To find out more about the mini facelift in this case study, please read the information below.

Why Are the Photographs of This Case Study Provided in a Side-View?

Some signs of ageing are clearer when a photograph is taken from a certain angle. In this case, the patient would see a more dramatic difference from a side-view photograph since her problem mainly centred around the jawline.

When Was This Post-Surgery Photograph Taken?

This is a side-on view of a mini face lift, 3 weeks post-surgery. She has noticed especially the jaw line. An interesting feature of this case is that her husband was against her having surgery. Now that he sees the results, he is very pleased.

Her husband was against her having surgery, but now 3 weeks post-surgery, he is quite impressed and glad that she has done it. It raises an issue that often there is a difference of opinion between husbands and wives whether a person should have cosmetic surgery or not. The husband is now for the procedure and is considering having the procedure himself. A mini face lift can improve several different areas. In some patients, the maximum effect is in a different region.

What Are Common Problems That Are Encountered Before Patients Have a Mini Facelift?

In some patients it is the nasal labial fold that is drooping. In others it is generalised depression in the cheeks that needs to be lifted. Some patients have very heavy jowls. Others have loose skin along the jaw line. The final group is very heavy necks where there is no definition.

How Does Dr Lanzer Create a More Youthful Appearance with the Mini Facelift?

Ideally, there is a 90-degree angle from the chin around to the neck which gives a sharp definition. If there is excess fat and loose skin, then that angle changes as can be seen in this photograph. This creates a definite appearance of aging. Dr Lanzer combines liposculpture to remove all the fat from the region together with the lifting and tightening of the skin. It is a combination of removal of fat, tightening of the muscles and excising and removing the excess skin. Dr Lanzer performs a mini face lift which means that the cut does not go into the hair but stays around the ears and in the region behind the ear.

Are the Results Displayed in the Post-Surgery Photograph the Final Results?

No, because most patients must recover a little while longer. During their recovery period, there may be some redness, swelling, and bruising that influences the results. So, even though we can see some of the dramatic changes, the final results will come a couple of months later.

How Do I Know If I Am Eligible for the Mini Facelift?

Your eligibility for the mini facelift can only be determined after a consultation with Dr Lanzer. Therefore, if you are considering having this procedure yourself, please contact the Dr Lanzer Clinic for an appointment.
