Case Study

Breast Reduction Before & After Photos

Before breast reduction before and after

This patient presented with very large, heavy breasts. It is common for this to cause back and neck pain as well as making it difficult to find suitable clothing.

After breast reduction before and after

This is the patient 3 months post Breast Liposuction. Notice the size difference and the skin texture. The skin has retracted nicely and the breasts are now of a size whereby the patient can comfortably wear clothes and exercise. Note that there is no cutting or scars around the nipple area.

Breast Reduction Before And After Photographs

The breast reduction before and after photos displayed on this page were obtained from a real patient of Dr Lanzer. This breast reduction before and after case study clearly displays the result of the surgery this patient obtained.

Before elaborating on the procedure of the patient in this breast reduction before and after case study, it is important for prospective patients to understand that our breast reduction before and after photographs are examples. Every person is unique in their own way, so the results one can expect from cosmetic surgery will be different too.

What Is Breast Reduction Surgery?

The breast reduction is a surgical procedure that removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin in one procedure. This surgery aims to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body. The surgery may be performed to relieve the discomfort and pain associated with overly large breasts; this includes neck and shoulder pain, but also issues such as skin irritation. This surgery is also referred to as the reduction mammoplasty.

How Does A Patient Know Breast Reduction Liposuction Is A Suitable Procedure For Them?

Dr Lanzer likes to assess radiological how much fat is in the breast, so he can predict volume reduction. Some breasts are very “fatty”; this means that the majority of the heavy breasts are made up of just fat. It also means that a lot of fat can be removed and a major reduction in size and weight is possible. In such a situation, going from an E size or DD to a C is realistic.

Other women have more fibrous breast tissue. Typically, young women in their teens who have never had children are more likely to have more fibrous and glandular tissue compared to fatty tissue.

Most breasts are not the same in size and shape; in fact, most women have one breast which is slightly bigger than the other. Dr Lanzer measures how much fat is taken from each breast and although he will try to create more evenness, often if there is an asymmetry prior to surgery, it will remain post-surgery.

Dr Lanzer sees fantastic results from breast liposuction. Additional factors such as tissue and skin contraction and the use of ultrasound can also have an impact on the result obtained from the procedure. In many cases, we see a natural breast lift after the reduction. Some results are visible immediately post-operatively yet result evaluation should only be done once the patient had time to heal.

Ultrasound is also used as a device to melt fat. The Vaser is such a device used in Hi Definition Liposculpture, as is the Ulthera, which is used for face lifting in a non-surgical way. Ultrasound can also be used for deep bruising after liposuction and is generally started a few weeks post-procedure. It is often available at physiotherapists or provided by Dr Lanzer’s staff in the Medi-Day Spa.

Having breasts that are too heavy or big could cause some physical discomfort, so the breast reduction could be a viable procedure in these cases. However, many patients have different ideas about breast reduction and the changes that could be implemented with this procedure. To give patients a good insight in the treatment and the possibilities of the treatment, our case studies can provide some prime examples. Naturally, there photographs are a guideline, since results obtained from this procedure are unique to the patient.

What Qualifications Does Dr Lanzer Have To Execute Breast Reduction In Australia As A Surgeon?

Dr Lanzer’s Dermatology and Cosmetic Day Surgery Services are fully accredited with both the ISO 9001:2008 and the National Safety and Quality in Health Service Standards (NSQHS). The NSQHS require Dr Lanzer’s clinic to have 100% compliance to all 10 standards before accreditation is granted.

The first area from this list of 10 standards is “Governance for Safety and Quality in Health Service Organisations”.  This standard is set up to ensure that we at Dr Lanzer’s have and maintain; governance and quality improvement systems, clinical practice, performance and skills management, incident and complaints management and patient rights and engagement. Dr Lanzer has a highly skilled Quality Manager who works closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure these areas are all up to date and maintained.

How Does The Dr Lanzer Clinic Stay The Best Cosmetic Surgery Clinic For Breast Reductions?

We have implemented new feedback forms recently, which give us the opportunity to gain direct input from our patients and graph the data received to monitor our quality improvement and areas we can improve on.

Each member of staff knows the process of raising an issue or idea for improvement and we welcome their feedback to ensure all our staff are happy within their work environment.  This is very important to Dr Lanzer, as happy staff reflect well on our patients.

We also have a Quality and Safety Information Report that can be filled in by any member of staff. This form is created to address issues in areas such as; patient concerns (fall, medication incident, complaint or suggestion), staff concerns (request, incident, manual handling incident or hazards), equipment concerns (equipment failure, due for servicing or new equipment needed), security concerns (assault/threatening behaviour, theft or trespass to report), emergency (fire, explosion or chemical spill to report) and quality (suggested improvement or new document required). We aim to create the safest and most enjoyable experience for our patients and this standard of the NSQHS ensures that we are monitoring all areas to ensure this occurs.

If you have concerns about the results of your future breast reduction procedure, it is essential to speak to Dr Lanzer or one of his associates. A trained medical professional can provide you with more details regarding the results you could obtain, as well as insight into the treatment. During your consultation with your surgeon, you will also receive information about the aftercare, which is also important as good aftercare helps you to reduce the intensity of common side-effects that can be experienced after this kind of surgery. If you have any questions left after a consultation, or realise you’ve forgotten to ask something important during your consultation, be sure to contact the Dr Lanzer Clinic for more info.

Can Fat Be Used To Increase The Size Of The Breasts?

The fat transfer can be used for breast augmentation. During this procedure, harvested fat is reintroduced inside the breasts to reach the desired size. Just like most liposuction procedures, this treatment does not require a hospital stay and is done on an outpatient basis.

Results obtained from a fat transfer are relatively permanent. However, a large amount of weight loss could influence the results. Therefore, patients should be close to or on their goal weight when undergoing this procedure. The skin reacts well to the fat transfer as well, so patients do not have to worry about stretched skin.

How Should I Interpret The Breast Reduction Case Studies?

Our breast reduction case  studies should only be an example and can therefore not be considered as the results you could get from the procedure. Even though they could be an indication of achievable results through breast reduction, every patient is unique and will therefore experience unique results.

To get a clearer estimate of the results you may obtain after your treatment, you should always consult with your cosmetic surgeon. During this consultation, Dr Lanzer will examine the area to determine how the procedure will affect the overall aesthetics of the breasts.

Please note that before and after photographs of nipple and areola reductions are also available on the website. We mention this procedure her as well, since there are some cases where patients combine the breast reduction with a nipple and areola reduction to restore the aesthetic of the breasts.
