Case Study 3: Female Breast Reduction Surgery
The popularity of breast reduction surgery stems from its utility and effectiveness. Prior to the introduction of liposuction techniques, the only method of removing fatty deposits was open lipectomy, which is associated with potentially high blood loss and significant big scars. Liposuction, however, has provided a new, safe and effective method of removing fatty deposits without scarring. Dr Lanzer now performs breast reduction via liposuction in Melbourne. Liposuction in Melbourne has become the most common surgical procedure in cosmetic surgery over the past two decades.
When Can Patients Choose Breast Reduction With Liposuction For Heavy Breasts?
There is a large patient population that desires a reduction in breast size but will not tolerate the evasiveness of traditional reduction mammoplasty, the scars of the surgery, or both of these issues. At Dr Lanzer’s, the staff will provide a choice of liposuction and this should be an option presented to women contemplating breast reduction surgery to address the problems caused by large breasts.
Liposuction breast reduction is an excellent technique for treating breast hypertrophy and its symptoms. Liposuction affords the ability to reduce breasts without scars. To add, liposuction breast reduction allows for more rapid recovery with fewer complications.
Lipo breast reduction is not the surgery of choice in all patients, but an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of lipo breast reduction will allow for its successful use in a much larger number of patients.
How Does A Surgeon Choose Between Reduction Mammoplasty And Breast Reduction With Liposuction?
During a reduction mammoplasty, cosmetic surgery removes excess breast tissue and skin to alter the size and shape of the breasts. In some cases, they may need to move the nipple and areola to a position that is more proportionate to the new size of the breast. Now, this kind of procedure is usually done in patients who have a large amount of excess breast tissue.
Patients undergoing breast reduction usually have large fat deposits in the breasts. By removing those fats, the doctor can provide a small cup size without the need for a large incision. Naturally, if the patient only has a small amount of fat in the breast and wants a serious reduction in cup size, this may not be achievable through breast reduction with liposuction alone.
Why Do Patients Obtain Breast Reduction With Liposuction?
A lot of female patients obtain this procedure due to physical discomfort caused by the weight and size of the breasts. Common complaints are neck and shoulder pain, back pain, but also headaches. A reduction in breast size could address these problems.
Does The Dr Lanzer Clinic Meet All Standards?
ISO Certification 2010:
Dr Lanzer’s Cosmetic Day Surgery Hospital has received ISO accreditation for Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology Consulting. This is a healthcare assurance of “safety and quality” in all levels of the centre including Liposuction treatments held here.
As part of the accreditation process for health services, 10 new national standards – National Safety and Quality in Health Services (NSQHS) standards- were introduced as of the 1st January 2013. They provide a nationally consistent statement about the level of care consumers can expect from health services, focussing on areas that are essential to improving patient safety and quality of care.
Dr Lanzer’s practice undertook a full accreditation review by external auditors. They assessed the practice for the new NSQHS standards. Full accreditation was awarded in September 2013. We are one of the first cosmetic surgery centres to be accredited against the new standards.
