As an Australian dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon, Dr Lanzer has a keen interest in skin tightening and fat reduction procedures. For over 25 years, Dr Daniel Lanzer has performed thousands of Brisbane liposuction and surgical procedures and offers the latest abdominoplasty treatment, which is referred to as a full tummy tuck liposuction procedure or lipectomy.

Is Dr Lanzer Specialised In Tummy Tuck Procedures?

Unlike many cosmetic surgeons, Dr Lanzer had hands-on training in America with Dr Marco Pelosi II and III, cosmetic surgeons located in New Jersey. Dr Pelosi has extensive experience in abdominoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation, fat transfer and gynaecology services.

The knowledge and experienced passed on by Dr Pelosi has allowed Dr Lanzer to continue his practice in a holistic way, allowing him to give patients the procedural option most suited to them. Now, Dr Lanzer can offer liposuction in combination with an abdominoplasty to achieve smoother and flatter results. For those who are simply suffering from some loose skin, Dr Lanzer can perform the mini tummy tuck liposuction, which does not require any movement of the belly button and has a smaller incision.

Dr Lanzer chose to be trained by Dr Pelosi II and III, as they are the co-founders of the International Society of Cosmetogynecology. Their technique for abdominoplasty combines tumescent liposuction, which is Dr Lanzer’s expertise, accompanied by skin removal.

Why Is Dr Lanzer’s Brisbane Tummy Tuck The Better Option?

Abdominoplasty procedures have been linked to numerous complications, such as trauma and compromised blood supply. However, studies have shown a significant benefit in reduced back pain, strength, better bladder control and improved confidence following abdominoplasty.

Dr Pelosi II and III have incorporated the tumescent anaesthesia technique for numbing the area and to reduce bleeding; this also means that a general anaesthetic is not absolutely necessary for this treatment. They also incorporate some liposuction when performing an abdominoplasty, named the “abdominolipoplasty”; this means that traditional requirements of blood transfusions are no longer there. It also means that some patients can have the procedure under a local anaesthetic, thereby reducing the recovery time. They also do not admit the patient to hospital for aftercare. As an advocate for tumescent anaesthetic used in the Brisbane tummy tuck, Dr Lanzer has seen the benefits of this type of anaesthetic for years. Benefits include reduced blood loss, patient comfort, reduced post-operative pain, and a reduced need for heavy pain medication.

What Should I Know About Tummy Tuck Liposuction Procedures?

A full “tummy tuck liposuction” is a surgical procedure whereby excess skin and fat is removed from the abdominal area and the underlying muscles are tightened. There are two main reasons one may be a candidate for an abdominoplasty. The first is pregnancy and the second is a weight loss or gain of – or + 10%. These cause wrinkling of the skin and stretch marks, excess fat tissue, and rectus muscle diastasis, whereby the abdominal muscles have separated. When the muscles have been stretched to such an extent, it is highly unlikely that diet and exercise alone will give you the results you desire. Liposuction with excess skin and fat removal on the upper abdomen and the lower abdomen could provide a solution.

Before you have the procedure, it is always advantageous for patients to get Dr Lanzer’s opinion. Based on his expert insight, patients can choose the cosmetic surgery that is right for them.

How Is Abdominoplasty Surgery Done?

Tummy tuck surgery targets skin wrinkling, excess fat and muscle diastasis. This allows for the skin to be pulled very tight, giving the appearance of a smooth, flat stomach. This procedure can be paired with tumescent liposuction to curve the hips and waist for the best results.

An abdominoplasty or tummy tuck involves a long incision made along the bikini line, just above the pubic area. The belly button is then separated from the surrounding skin. The skin and fat are then lifted, and the separated rectus muscle is then sutured together. The excess skin is then stretched down, and excess skin and fat removed. There is a new opening created for the belly button on the abdomen and a drain is inserted to remove excess fluid and blood. The incision is then sutured together neatly, with every attempt to keep the scar hidden in the bikini line.

Is The Mini Tummy Tuck Procedure The Same As A Full Tummy Tuck?

A mini tuck liposuction is also referred to as a “mini abdominoplasty”. This body contouring procedure does not require the belly button to be repositioned and is best for patients who have a pouch of fat and loose skin under the belly button. It involves an incision being made along the bikini line, suturing of the muscle and removal of excess fat and skin. It can be used in conjunction with liposuction around the area (upper and sides) to create an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The advantage of a mini tummy tuck, if it is suitable for you, is that it is a smaller incision and less invasive than a full abdominoplasty.

Discover Tummy Tuck Brisbane Liposuction Advantages!

An increasingly large amount of patients now opt for Tummy Tuck Liposuction procedures. The other advantage of using this method is that often less skin needs to be lifted and on the upper stomach this means less risk to the blood supply of the skin.

What Is A Dermolipectomy?

This is a procedure where the surgeon will be removing excess skin and fat from the abdominal area without suturing the abdominal muscles back together. It is ideal for women who are slim and toned, however, they usually experience slight wrinkling or excess skin. The scar is in the same area as the full abdominoplasty and mini tuck.

It is vital to understand that a tummy tuck liposuction procedure will not eliminate all stretch marks on the abdominal skin, and that if there are stretch marks present, these may just be shifted further down the stomach. You will have a scar running along the lower abdomen, the length of this will vary depending on which type of abdominoplasty you elect to have. If you have a full abdominoplasty, you will also have a scar around your belly button. The belly button will also look different to a standard belly button as it is re-positioned from the abdominal wall. The scar can take up to a year before it flattens out and fades, however the final results are individually based.

You can obtain some indication as to how you will heal by comparing it to other scars you have had previously. As with all surgical procedures, there are potential risks involved. We address and attempt to minimise each risk to ensure the safety of our patients; this include before and during your procedure as well as post-operatively. These risks will be discussed with you in more detail upon your consultation.

The cosmetic procedures are day procedures, meaning that you will be admitted in the morning and discharged later that night. The procedure can be done under either a local or general anaesthetic which takes 1 to 3 hours; however, you need to allow more time for admission, recovery and discharge. There will be sutures in place for 5 – 7 days which will be removed by one of our nurses. A drain tube is inserted for 2-10 days post-surgery procedure which is very easy to manage. A simple dressing with compression garment is then put in place.

Generally, patients can return to a desk job 1-week post-surgery and may resume physical activities after 4 weeks. The result of the procedure becomes evident after the scar heals, which can take between 6 – 12 months, although patients are able to already notice a big difference prior to this. Before you have your procedure, always discuss your expectations with your surgeon, so the surgeon can tailor your treatment for your requirements.

What Is The Difference Between A Tummy Tuck Liposuction And Lipo-Tuck?

The lipo-tuck means that a large part of the operation is performed using the safest method of liposuction called tumescence. Dr Lanzer has experience of some 15,000 cases. This allows him to expertly use the procedure on new patients, subsequently numbing the treatment area with tumescent fluid and reduce or stop bleeding. The fluid also reduces the risk of infection. It finally allows a more limited surgical tuck; this means the surgeon removes excess fat more easily.

Do I Need A Mini Tuck Or Full Abdominoplasty?

Only Dr Lanzer can answer this question, since he must determine what the patient could benefit from the most. The best treatment also depends on the wishes of the patient, which are best discussed with Dr Lanzer.

Does A Tummy Tuck Hurt?

Patients will not experience any pain during the surgical procedure, since anaesthetic is used during the tummy tuck to keep the patient comfortable. Once the anaesthetic wears off, the patient can experience some overall discomfort. However, pain experienced after a tummy tuck can usually be managed by over-the-counter pain medication. Your cosmetic surgeon can also prescribe some pain management medication if required.

How Long Do Patients Recover From A Tummy Tuck?

The recovery time of a tummy tuck varies for each patient, as most patients have their own speed when it comes to healing. While Dr Lanzer can provide patients with an estimate for their recovery process, it is always best to listen to what your body needs during the recovery process. Take as much time as you need to let your body heal before returning to normal activities, and do not try to force anything too early.

How Long Does Tummy Tuck Surgery Take?

Naturally, the duration of a tummy tuck procedure does depend on the quantity of fat and skin that must be eliminated. After you have been evaluated by Dr Lanzer, he can tell you more about the duration of your tummy tuck surgery.

Will I Be Left With A Big Scar?

Yes, the scar is across the lower stomach about 6-8 centimetres from the vagina. It is usually below the bikini line; this means patients can hide the scar underneath their clothing or swimwear.

What Happens To Loose Skin?

The loose skin is excised and surgically removed during this cosmetic surgery. Evidently, patients who experienced a significant amount of weight loss usually need more loose skin removal than other patients.

Does The Belly Button Always Have To Be Moved?

This is a decision you will make with Dr Lanzer. Often the answer is no, but if you have a lot of loose skin, it will need to be shifted.

Am I Getting A New Belly Button?

No. It’s your belly button, but it is moved to another location.

Will I Require Suturing Of The Deep Muscles?

You can do a simple test and lie on your back and whilst you lift your head and chest off the bed, feel the central muscle especially above the umbilicus. You may feel either a split in the muscle of an unusual bulging.

Do I Need To Go To The Hospital?

Dr Lanzer does NOT admit his patients to hospital as a routine. However, risks and complications are always a possibility when it comes to cosmetic surgery. It is important for patients to avoid strenuous activity shortly after their procedure to reduce the chance of complications. It is also recommended to take some time off work and only to return to work when you are comfortable doing so.

Do I Need Private Health Insurance For This Treatment?

No, you do not. An item number may be applicable depending on your situation. During your initial consultation, Dr Lanzer can discuss tummy tuck costs and other fee estimates.

Can I Get Liposuction And Consider A Tummy Tuck Later?

Yes, this is a common choice and Dr Lanzer usually waits 6 months.

Will My Breasts Look Lifted After A Tummy Tuck Liposuction Procedure?

After the removal of fat and excess skin from the abdomen, the breast lifts somewhat. While the breast actually has not lifted on its own, the flatter abdomen can make it appear that way.

Patients who want their breasts lifted can combine their tummy tuck with a breast reduction. Breast reductions can have a natural lifting effect, without the need for further interference. During this procedure, the surgeon removes fat from the breast, much like what happens during your tummy tuck.

What Are The Risks Involved?

All types of surgery have risks of infection, bruising and swelling. The scar is a risk, and everyone heals differently. DVT clots to legs and its potential complications are a risk. Dr Lanzer takes measures to reduce this chance.

How Do I Decide If I Should Have A Tummy Tuck Or A Liposuction?

New patients can benefit from a free appointment, so you can understand your options while talking to a cosmetic surgeon. Dr Lanzer warns that all cosmetic surgery has some potential risks, so patients should always consider available options carefully.

The tummy tuck is a treatment that can be obtained after a period of considerable weight loss, but only if the patient has maintained his or her weight loss over some time. It is also a procedure for women who have tried to get back into shape after a pregnancy, but struggle with some difficult fat deposits and excess abdominal skin despite their healthy lifestyle.

To discover if you could benefit from a tummy tuck procedure, it is advised to get a consult with Dr Lanzer, who is one of Australia’s leading specialists where liposuction procedures are concerned. Your suitability for a tummy tuck procedure depends on the aesthetic problems you are facing and the results you want to obtain. Patients must have realistic expectations to benefit from a tummy tuck procedure and must fully understand the risks involved as well.

The information about the cosmetic procedure, as well as an overview of the risks the patient should consider, will be explained by The Dr Lanzer Clinic and the medical team. However, if you have some questions about the procedure before coming in for your initial appointment, you can always get in touch with our clinic beforehand.
