Liposuction procedures allow Dr Lanzer to remove fat without having to cut the fat out because a liposuction treatment at the Melbourne Clinic is performed with a tumescent solution and a gentle suction process. The cannula (small tube) that is used for the removal of the excess fat during the procedure is inserted into the treatment area through incisions made by Dr Lanzer. These incisions are quite like the incisions used during keyhole surgery, although it is important to understand that their size may vary according to the size of the treatment area and the amount of fat that needs to be removed.
To determine if one of our liposuction treatments could provide you with the aesthetic benefits you want to obtain, we recommend booking an appointment at the Dr Lanzer Clinic or reading up on our liposuction procedures on our website. However, to take advantage of the procedure, and to be deemed eligible, patients must always make the first appointment with Dr Lanzer. By doing so, your problem will be evaluated, and you will be given the recommended treatment options for your situation.
Despite a rigorous exercise routine and healthy eating habits, some persistent fat deposits can be incredibly difficult to get rid of. Fortunately, liposuction at Dr Lanzer’s Melbourne Clinic could provide a solution, more specifically by removing those persistent fat deposits and providing the body with a more athletic appearance in general.
There are numerous body contouring treatments available these days, which can help with reduction as well as body sculpting. Body contouring procedures can be executed with specific techniques, which depend heavily on the aesthetic goals of the patient in question.
To get the maximum effect from body contouring surgery, it is always recommended to attempt weight loss through exercise and diet first and foremost. If fat reduction is successful, but not to the fullest extent, it can make the procedure less complicated and reduce your downtime after your procedure.
Body contouring procedures are suitable for the reduction of stubborn fat on various areas of the body, this includes the upper arms, love handles, abdomen and more.

Yes. At the Dr Lanzer Clinic, each procedure is tailored towards the needs of the patient. Another liposuction treatment that can be obtained from our clinic is the liposculpture procedure, a treatment where the surgeon is going to remove fat, as well as sculpt and shape the fat to give the patient a more athletic appearance.
Dr Lanzer can use several devices to execute liposculpture, more specifically MicroAire and Vaser. The MicroAire is a vibrating device, which allows a generally softer and larger amount of fat loss. It is a common device during a gynecomastia procedure, otherwise known as a man boob reduction. Because of the nature of the device, the MicroAire is best suited for treatment areas where the fat is thicker and more fibrous.
Vaser is another option for liposculpture and used quite frequently at the Dr Lanzer Clinic. Treatment with Vaser is ultrasound-assisted liposuction, where ultrasound is used to soften the fat. The use of the treatment may provide the patient with skin contraction after the procedure, subsequently avoiding loose skin.
In addition to liposculpture, patients can also obtain treatments such as Coolsculpt and Coolshape, which are treatments classified as non-surgical liposuction. During this non-surgical liposuction treatment, the respective device will freeze the fat cells instead of removing them. After a certain period, the body will use its digestive cells to slowly remove the fat over several months.
An increasingly large number of patients now opt for liposuction treatment. Patients who come to the Melbourne clinic for a lipo procedure will therefore be in very and capable hands.

The combination of liposuction and a tumescent solution enables Dr Lanzer to prepare the fat before it is removed from the body. A tumescent solution also sedates and numbs the treatment area, so it can also be described as a local anaesthetic.
Tissue that has been treated with a tumescent solution will expand over a certain period; this makes the treatment area easier to sculpt for Dr Lanzer. The tumescent solution performs other functions during a procedure as well; this includes numbing the treatment area, adding extra fluid to the area, which eliminates the need for intravenous fluids, closing the blood vessels and adding anti-bacterial components to reduce the chance of infection.
Dr Lanzer was one of the first Australian surgeons to introduce tumescent liposuction procedures into our country. To introduce the procedure to other professionals, he held a conference in 1992. Dr Lanzer is a licenced and experienced cosmetic surgeon, but he is also a dermatologist, and this has benefited many patients who have come to his Melbourne clinic in Victoria for treatment.
Over the past 22 years, Dr Lanzer has performed more than 15,000 liposuction procedures. In neither of these treatments was a blood transfusion required.
Liposuction can be used to treat a wide variety of areas of the body. Specific areas that are treated with liposuction include the outer thighs, buttocks, hips, flanks and abdomen. However, the procedure can also be executed on other areas, which includes the knees, inner thighs, arms, back and neck. Liposuction on the ankles and calves is rarer, but also belongs to the possibilities.
Most patients taking advantage of liposuction are already on their target weight but struggle with persistent fat deposits that will not go away with a good exercise routine and a healthy diet. Even though liposuction is not meant as a treatment for obesity, in some cases, the procedure can be used to give a patient a kick-start for their diet.
When someone loses a significant amount of fat, excess skin is not totally out of the question. However, this is not always the case after a liposuction procedure. When the fat is surgically removed from the treatment area, the body will start to create small canals in the area where the fat used to be. The canals then contract and close, mainly due to the use of the compression garment and the production of elastin and collagen by the body. Therefore, the skin may retract and tighten after a liposuction procedure.
If a patient has some skin wrinkling, a solution can be found in additional skin tightening procedures. These procedures are usually non-surgical in nature.
Please note that liposuction is not a solution for cellulite problems. However, other treatments are available for cellulite reduction. If you seek such a reduction treatment, you can find more information about these procedures and the reduction of the appearance of cellulite on our website.
