Male Neck Liposuction
Male Neck Liposuction
One of the most common liposuction treatments undertaken by men is male neck liposuction. Despite the common occurrence of the procedure, not many patients who intend on having the procedure are properly informed. Thus, the Dr Lanzer Clinic is more than happy to provide the necessary information. If you wish to find out more about the male neck liposuction procedure, please refer to our liposuction information overview below.
What Techniques Are Used For Male Neck Liposuction?
Cosmetic surgeons can use a variety of techniques to contour the neck area. The general term used to describe these types of procedure is called neck contouring; this also includes the male neck liposuction.
There are many benefits to be obtained from a male neck liposuction. Firstly, the patient will experience a more defined neckline, followed up by a rejuvenated appearance. In fact, it can mimic the effect of a face lift, as a droopy neck can make a patient look older. It can also make the patient appear thinner. Some patients are already on their target weight, but still have the appearance of a double chin. When this occurs, a male neck liposuction can correct the problem.
Please note that a male neck liposuction is not meant as a weight loss treatment. Patients who benefit from this lipo treatment are on or around their ideal weight, but they may experience problems trying to eliminate persistent fats in the neck area.
Which Patients Are Eligible For Male Neck Liposuction?
While overweight could be a cause for a double chin, patients who obtain a male neck liposuction are usually on their ideal weight. However, the chin and neck are difficult areas to exercise, which means it can be hard to eliminate those persistent fat deposits.
The natural ageing process can also contribute to sagginess of the neck, which can become a serious problem area for many patients. Fat and excess skin can accumulate on the neck, which make the patient look older and cause an ill-defined neckline. Naturally, this kind of problem is extremely difficult to fix with diet and exercise.
To ensure you are a good candidate for the male neck liposuction, it is recommended to book your appointment with Dr Lanzer at his clinic. During your initial appointment, he can determine if a male neck liposuction will provide you with the desired results.
Even though we have focussed on male neck liposuction today, we must mention that neck liposuction is procedure suitable for men and women. If you wish to learn more about female neck liposuction, you can refer to the dedication information page on our website.

How Is Liposuction Of The Neck Executed?
Cosmetic surgeons can execute the liposuction treatment on various parts of the body. Naturally, these will be places where there is a substantial accumulation of persistent fat. Areas such as the neck are common for liposuction, but other locations such as the abdomen, arms, and thighs are possible too.
A liposculpture of the neck is executed by removing persistent fats from underneath the skin; this is done through a gentle suction process. As the fats are removed immediately, patients usually expect to see the results immediately. While there can be a significant difference, patients must remember that there can be some swelling after their treatment. Therefore, results from male neck liposuction are best evaluated once the swelling has gone down. Once the patient has healed sufficiently, the patient will be able to determine a neck lift effect.
Variable techniques – With liposuction procedures, cosmetic surgery can use different techniques. One of the popular techniques involves the use of a special fluid, which is a combination of anaesthetic and medication. It can also involve the use of a vibration device, which prepares the fat for easier removal.
Small incisions or nicks – The size of the incision used during lipo treatment depends on the treatment area and the amount of fat the surgeon will remove. For neck liposuction, the surgeon usually makes a small nick, through which the cannula will be placed, and fat will be sucked out.
Anaesthetic or sedation – Liposuction is a procedure that can be executed under a local anaesthetic or a general anaesthetic. It all depends on the size of the treatment area, the complexity of the procedure, and the patient’s comfort. Anaesthetic is also a topic that will be discussed before our surgery.
What Happens After The Liposuction Procedure?
To ensure the area heals properly after your surgery, it is advised to take good care of the treatment area. The medical team at The Dr Lanzer Clinic will also ensure no dirt or bacteria can enter the area once you leave our clinic; this by bandaging the area thoroughly.
In addition to the bandage, most patients will be required to wear a compression garment during their recovery. The compression garment has a number of functions. Firstly, it ensures the neck area can conform to its new shape a little easier. Secondly, it can reduce some of the side-effects experienced after surgery; this includes bruising and swelling.
Patients are advised to take some time off work after their male neck liposuction. This kind of liposuction procedure is still surgical in nature, so it is important to take enough rest and let your body heal. However, recovery time will also be subject to the amount of fat that has been removed during your treatment.
Side-effects – As we briefly noted already, a male neck liposuction is usually accompanied by some side-effects after the procedure. The most common side-effects include bruising, numbness and swelling.
Even though side-effects are a normal part of the recovery process, they can feel a little daunting to patients. However, side-effects will disappear as the body heals. So, bruising and swelling will reduce in intensity during the weeks post-treatment.
Patients can encounter some minor discomfort after their male neck liposuction. Dr Lanzer can prescribe some pain management medication after your treatment, but most symptoms are easily managed with over-the-counter pain medicine.
Is Liposuction A Solution For Certain Medical Problems?
Liposuction is commonly used for aesthetic reasons, but there are certain medical conditions for which liposuction could be a treatment. Medical conditions that could be treated with lipo include lipodystrophy syndrome, lipoedema, and man boobs. The goal of liposuction is the targeted removal of fat deposits. For medical conditions where there is an accumulation of such fats in an area, lipo could provide a treatment.
Liposuction and male neck liposuction in general can provide solutions to a variety of patients. Of course, we always stress that lipo should never be a treatment for obesity. While it can push patients on the road to a healthier lifestyle, patients must be willing to maintain a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise for a liposuction treatment to be long-term.
