The Vaser Liposuction procedure is performed using ultrasound therapy to remove fat from the body. Some of us have that stubborn fat that we cannot get rid even with a healthy diet and regular excise. Dr Lanzer can target specific areas of the body to enhance the shape.
Frequently asked Vaser Liposuction procedure questions
What is the technology of the Vaser liposuction?
Fat is made up of lipid containing cells. The Vaser Liposuction involves an extra step of passing the Vaser through the fat before the suction. The Vaser is a third generation ultrasound device. It creates an ultrasound wavelength that specifically targets the fat cells so they melt. The fat that is subsequently sucked out with the Vaser liposuction is softer and more liquid like.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Many areas on the body can be treated with the Vaser liposuction like the inner and outer thighs, hips, buttocks, Male and female breast reduction, flanks, back, abdomen, chest, arms, knees and chin. What is involved with the procedure?
The vaser liposuction procedure can be performed while the patient is awake with a local anesthetic or asleep under a general anesthetic. Your skin is cleaned with an antiseptic solution as this is a sterile procedure. Then small incisions are made into the skin to allow access to the fat in that specific area. Dr Lanzer tries to make these incisions in folds or creases in the skin so they are less noticeable once they have healed. A Tumescent saline solution is then injected into these incisions. This not only numbs the area but it also shrinks the blood vessels and reduces bruising and blood loss. A small probe with ultrasonic waves is inserted into the incisions down to the subcutaneous fat layer.
This helps to break up the unwanted fat cells. This is then performed over the whole area that is being treated. Minimal blood loss and trauma is caused with this procedure as it is less invasive than other methods of Liposuction. A cannula is inserted to remove the fat by gentle suction. Dr Lanzer will continuously be assessing the area to make sure that the correct amount of fat is taken out to ensure a smooth end result.
Who is suitable?
Males and Females of all ages, shapes and sizes are suitable for Vaser Liposuction. It is a body shaping procedure that is suitable for those with stubborn fat pockets that are not in proportion with the rest of their body.
What are the possible side effects for Vaser Liposuction?
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks but they are very rare in qualified cosmetic or plastic surgeon’s hands. Some of these risks are blood loss, bruising, swelling, reactions to an anesthetic, blood clots, pain, change in skin sensation, numbness, scarring, infection, uneven or rippling area, loose skin, skin or nerve damage, skin discoloration, fluid loss or accumulation, allergic reactions, poor wound healing.
