Discover The Workings Of Arm Liposuction For Women!
Liposuction for women can be executed on many parts of the body. Even though we usually associate liposuction for women with liposuction on the abdomen, there are other areas of the body that can have a problem with excess fat. Another area of the body that can have a certain amount of excess fat are the arms, therefore many women also opt for liposuction for women to get rid of the fat in their arms. Please note that women opting for liposuction for women do not necessarily have an overweight, but simply have problems shifting the fat from that region.
What Can You Tell Me About Liposuction for Women On The Arms?
Most liposuction for women procedures on the arms are done with the liposculpture technique. Liposculpture is basically an evolved type of liposuction and is considered to be more precise and safer than traditional liposuction.
The procedure itself is usually executed under a local anaesthetic, which is considerably less risky than a full anaesthetic. The patient will be injected with a special solution, which will not only numb the area where the procedure will be executed, but will also cause the fat cells to become weaker. Thanks to this process, the surgeon can remove the fat more easily and not cause any damage to surrounding tissue.
For most patients, liposculpture is performed on the lower area of the arms, outer arms or on the muscular area of the arms. By choosing liposuction on the arms, the patient will be able to enjoy a more defined arm with a clearer muscle definition.
Can You Tell Me More About The Aftercare After My Arm Liposuction Procedure?
Even though arm liposuction is a minor procedure, it is recommended to get someone to pick you up from the clinic after the surgery. Most patients are only put on local anaesthetic, but that does not mean that you will not experience any fatigue after the procedure. The majority of patients are also quite nervous when they come in for a treatment and even though our staff will do everything to make you feel at ease and comfortable, nervousness can cause you to feel more tired after your treatment.
Most patients who have arm liposuction may leave the clinic on the same day of the procedure. However, if you have more than one area treated with liposculpture, Dr Lanzer may need you to stay in the clinic overnight. Dr Lanzer and the medical team will usually notify you about the recovery time before you come in for the procedure, but this can be subject to change.
Once you leave the clinic, you will be required to wear a compression band for a certain period of time. The band will give your arm the right shape after the procedure, but will also reduce the pain you may be experiencing after the surgery. The patient will also be given medication to counter any discomfort and to prevent infection. Dr Lanzer and the medical team will explain everything about the medication before and after the procedure.
Patients who leave the clinic after their procedure should take it easy for a while. Even though most patients can resume their normal work activities after a couple of days, it is still better to take plenty of rest before you resume your activities at a normal pace. The swelling and bruising after the procedure also fades over the course of time. The majority of patients will notice the swelling going down within 3 weeks after the procedure.
Most patients will also experience some minor stiffness in the arms after the procedure, this is usually accompanied by some bruising and swelling. To make you more comfortable, Dr Lanzer will prescribe some pain medication.
Is There Anything I Should Avoid?
As was mentioned before, the patient should take it easy for a while and not do any heavy exercise or lifting for at least a few weeks after the surgery. Dr Lanzer and the medical staff will tell you more about this when you come in for your consultation and the procedure itself.
Patients should also avoid smoking as best as they can. Ideally, it is best to stop smoking a few weeks before you have the procedure. Patients who smoke will encounter a longer recovery process and a higher chance of infections, so it is definitely best to give up smoking if you can. If you cannot give up smoking at all, we recommend cutting down smoking as much as you can.
Another thing to avoid are anti-inflammatory medication and aspirin. As you may know, both of these medications can increase bleeding. For that reason, you really want to avoid these medications when you come out of surgery. Dr Lanzer can prescribe you something for the pain and make sure that you are comfortable after the surgery. If you encounter any discomfort after the procedure, please call the clinic in first instance. Do not take any medications without consulting Dr Lanzer or your physician first.
What Can I Expect From Arm Liposuction?
Most arm liposuction results are more long term. The small percentage of women who have arm fat coming back will experience this due to an unfit diet or to little exercise. Patients who maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly will be able to maintain the result of the arm liposuction.
In order to ensure that you are happy with the result, and to ensure that your liposuction was a success, Dr Lanzer will do a follow-up with you. Once the wound has healed, you will be able to evaluate the result.
