Before & After Photos Explained
As you can see from the pictures above, This patient has had extensive fat bags on his lower lids. I wish to highlight the laser lower lid blepharoplasty. It often works together with cheek fillers. As we age, fat droops from the upper lid down onto the surface. The fat is held by a tendon. It therefore becomes prominent on the surface. A hardness and concave surface can often form below. It the photographs seen, there is a depression which gives a hollowed look and a shadow which tends to make a person look tired and aged. Often in combination with the laser lower lid blepharoplasty we perform fat transfer. Today, the fat transfer is used with stem cells which is called the stem cell face lift. The goal is to elevate the cheeks and by bringing the cheeks higher and fuller, we find that there is a direct effect on the eyes so that they look less hollow. The two procedures work well together and are often combined. In this situation, this gentleman also had his upper eyelids removed. In men often we find that their skin is sagging onto their lids.
There may be an ability to claim part of the fees from Medicare. This was not so in this gentleman’s case as the skin is only more of cosmetic nature. Laser blepharoplasty first was introduced in Australia in about 1994. Many dermatologists were involved in bringing this method to Australia and teaching other surgeons how to perform it. Dr. Lanzer has used the CO2 laser since that date. He says that the procedure has stood the test of time. Developments in lasers have particularly changed how we treat the wrinkles. Dr. Lanzer now uses a third generation erbium laser called Contour Erbium to smooth the wrinkles down. The gentleman in the photo also had this procedure. We are now looking at photographs that are about 18 months post the initial surgery. We can see that the significant effect has lasted until that date.
Many men are having cosmetic surgery. The cosmetic surgery is performed in Dr. Lanzer’s Melbourne Day Surgery Centre. Cosmetic surgery is performed by plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons, cosmetic dermatologists, and general surgeons. When considering cosmetic surgery, one should consider the experience of the surgeon based on the number of cases they have performed and the method they use. A lot of information is now available on the internet. It is not hard to compare experience. One of the good starting points is to look at before and after photos or videos that doctors may have performed. Dr. Lanzer has spoken on cosmetic procedures for Healthy Me TV. These videos should be able to be visualised on this website as well. Dr. Lanzer supplies all patients with detailed consent forms about the risks. Some patients do write reviews and comments about what they have found with procedures or may actually list complaints. Sometimes, these can be useful. Other times they can mislead the patient. Recently, a Dermatologist surgeon had an aggravated patient who was making up blogs about him. He eventually tracked him down and sued him in a court of law.
Cosmetic surgery has undergone many changes over the years. Dr. Lanzer is dedicated to finding the latest and most effective procedures for his patients.
